Project: Cultural Center

Type: Cultural project

Areas: 6,000

Taking inspiration from Tenam Puente the master plan consists of a plaza with a monumental water mirror reflecting the beautiful sky of Comitán, a pedestrian and bicycle axis connecting to the city center. A theater for 800 people that has a façade reminiscent of a marimba, an open foyer taking advantage of the temperate climate. The acoustics designed by Omar Saad uses adobe and local pine wood, the auditorium has a large back door that opens to an outdoor forum. The library is semi-buried, has a cafeteria, two reading rooms, a collection of more than 7,000 books and an auditorium for 200 people. The facades of the auditorium are made of pre-cast concrete. The walkways are made of local limestone.
